Harness setup- sliding on dyneema rope

Hey all,
Harness setup question.
Am looking at making a harness setup using length of dyneema (tied across front of harness, attached front of hip either side), which a carabina attaches, and then chicken loop also clipped into carabina. This allows for sliding load point from side to side, so your pull from the kite is aligned and not trying to rotate your body square to kite.

I currently ride with a loose harness that slides easily around torso, essentially acheiving the same effect . This just looks like it takes that to another level.

Have not tried the sliding spreader bar (Dynabar - or whichever), but the above setup really caught my attention/delusional imagination. Seeing inspirational riders like Ian Alldredge and Patrick Rebstock doing amazing things on this setup, maybe had a bit to do with wanting to give it a try. --check TDZ on vimeo--

Anyway, would be keen to hear anybodies experiences, and particularly any home builds of this design or similar. Re: the homebuild, I'm not sure about what to do with the speader bar. ie, does it need to be there? Will it be too soft without it? I do have an old spreader bar, that was thinking of grinding the hook section off, and just using the bar, for stiffener (and to potentially tie the dyneema either side) . This will stop the harness from cinching closed when really under load (this is my theory anyway)

cheers,
Guy

Hey Guy, you have it all worked out already. Take that old bar and get rid of the hook - you have to run the dyneema parallel to the spreader, otherwise it will squeeze you like a lemon. You also will want to use a quality pulley running on that rope, not a biner directly.

Dynabar has both setups, the dyneema slider and the metal slider. Just copy their system (the dyneema that is), they are working on this for years and you bet they got it sorted by now.

Thanks tungsten. Alright, out with the grinder and off with the hook. I didn't realise dynabar did the rope based slider. I had only seen the hook on bar version. Will check their efforts and pillage ideas.
