Are you killing it on your surfboard? Have a question about riding styles or a trick? What surfboards work, what doesn't. This is the place to talk about your surfboard gear.

need help to chose my new cabrinha kite

Postby mico » Fri Dec 30, 2011 3:29 pm

hi guys,
time to change my kite and i have to choose between 2 cabrinha kites
switchblade 10
or maybe vector (11?)

testing the drifter 11, really good kite but i think 9m is better....

i'm leaving in caribean, wind is 14-22 knts here, riding only strapless with a skillit 5'6 on flatwater for freestyle or little outside reef waves (side on) or a cab custom 140 with bindings, i'm 72kg for 1.74m

thanks for your report !!

Hey Mico,

Based on your weight, and the fact that you like to mix in a custom 140 with binding I would go with the Switchblade. The Switchblade is a very versatile kite, and will be a very serviceable wave kite. Especially in side-on conditions. And for riding in bindings the Switchblade is ideal. Also keep in mind that you are exactly my weight, and in solid 14 - 22 knots I can use a 9m Drifter all day long, and be perfect on my Skillet. And I know cause that is what I ride. It really comes down to if you want a decent kite for surfing, and a great kite for bindings then you can't go wrong with the Switch. I have not spent a lot of time on the Vector so I really cannot give you much feedback there. Hopefully another one of the guys will.
