Backside and Frontside?

I ride regular, my home spot that I ride is sideshore winds always riding right and I have frontside turns and airs down. If I were to travel to a place where the wind is the opposite tack, how long would it take to pick up backside riding and ride with style? Do a lot of the skills carry over?
