I finally did a tack on my surfboard today. It was damn ugly but I got the board turned around by going over the front of the board and wnet off in the oppostite direction without falling off.

Sweet!! Way to go. I learned that earlier this season and now have it going both directions. Very useful for getting in to the right spot in time when you see the wave you like coming in, or just to stay further upwind. I have it pretty dialed now, and find if you push really hard upwind on your back foot just as you send the kite behind your back shoulder it is super easy. Generally you then get a little lift from the kite and can hop around and dive the kite on your new direction with good consistency.

Yeahhh, me too! Did my first tack yesterday. And just to prove it wasn't a fluke, I did another one 5 minutes later that was much better. :D I'm doing the "Duck Tack" refered to in the Caution Kites' how to vid. It took roughly 50 attempts to get the first one. The first dozen attempts were .... hopeless. I remember watching the video thinking- that doesn't look too dificult, a little tricky, but manageable. Then, after the first few attempts thinking it was completely confusing and impossible. Flying off the board! How the? What the ?? So it's pretty gratifying to get the first one down!

Crazy sessions yesterday: SW15kts, 2-3meter waves. Then the wind came around W, then NW13kts. We all drove to another beach 20 minutes away and got in a great flat water session. All under the sun. Only in Nova Scotia, Canada can you have it all in one day! Extacy, Frustration, Elation.

Hey Dave,

NW/ N works at McCormicks beach. If the wind is smooth it's a pretty sweet spot. BTW, I used the 13m Warroo.

Cheers.
