WALDEN CD and similar boards

Postby mikelet » Sat Apr 18, 2009 1:31 pm

Hi guys, just wondering does any of you have any experience with boards like the Walden Compact Disc for kiting, they are short and fat, also shaped as a mini long board.
Noticed Naish had a similar surfboard in his lineup : the 6.6 epoxy wood that looks stronger construction
They look as a good alternative to throw onto your car when heading to the beach, just paddle it or kite it depending on conditions.Would be fun to do some downwind noseride riding and stuff like that if possible.... :D :D
What's your opinion,do you think it will work with a kite ?????

These are the boards i'm refering:

http://www.waldensurfboards.com/CD-P17C51.aspx

The smaller one i think is 6.6 with thruster setup and channeled bottom:

Also a new one quad setup:

the walden CD is pretty much a typical longboard....long, thick, and heavy. Guys have kited on longboards in lightwind....but I think it would be most suitable for an afternoon of "i wonder if that would work" rather than as your go-to lightwind board.

remember you can hang 5, and even 10 on a shortboard or skimboard too!

The CD is way too big for my taste

Hm i see.
Well i think it would be really fun for one or two days a year.....but that about it. Your gonna HATE IT in over 15 knots becuase the huge nose is gonna feel really bumpy.

But this is one of those things that are up to the individual. A board this drastically different requires....a different taste in boards.

I personally love taking out a old 9'0 i have every now and then. but i certainly wouldnt go spend money on a nice one.
