What board should I look for

Postby flkiter » Wed Apr 15, 2009 2:02 pm

Hi guys. Great site. I just found it as I was googling around looking for info on boards. I think I hit it right on with this site.
I want to start kiting with a surfboard but don't know enough to even start. Not interested in production kite surfboards for 800 bucks. Looking for a used surfboard. I don't surf so i don't know anything about surfboards. I live in St Pete Fl, am 5'10 and weigh about 190. I ride Cocoa beach too. Used boards are easy to come by but I just don't know what would be best. Thanks for any help guys,

Jim,
for your first board, try to find something with a decent amount of glass.
Just ask the guys at the shop and tell him you need a strong board.

Look for fish's with full noses and would be around the 5'10 range. Dont go bigger than 6'2 and no smaller than 5'5

GOOD LUCK!
p.s.
Im selling a 5'5 DC quad if your interested for $350.
Almost new, only riden a few times.

Thanks Jon. You think I should look for a quad fin? Do you think a fish is the best choice or does shape matter for my first board?

I would go fish first, then try to find a quad fish.
