surftech phenom 5'4 or rusty pro-ject 5'11?

Are you killing it on your surfboard? Have a question about riding styles or a trick? What surfboards work, what doesn't. This is the place to talk about your surfboard gear.

surftech phenom 5'4 or rusty pro-ject 5'11?

pretty close to picking up a surftech phenom 5'4. anyone have any feedback for using shorter grom boards for kiting? dimensions are 5'4 X 17 X 2 and its tuflite so its super light. looking for something fun in gorge river swell and coast. its either a phenom or rusty pro-ject 5'11. i'm torn between the two.

IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR AWHILE!!!

see, i got to ride in the gorge for the first time last summer, and it required a TOTALLY different board.
Lets think about what kind of conditions instead of the board, and then from there we can figure what board would best suit
what we are trying to achieve.

1st-not very steep faces. So not much rocker need, but there is ALOT of chop so can't go too crazy.
2nd-dont need to worry about light wind, so we can go smaller in the tail.
3rd- needs to be REALLY PLAYFULL. The gorge swell is IDEAL for huge air's strapless, so we can use a bigger fuller nose without
worrying about speed.

This would be my recommendation...

or if you want to do more tricks and less waves....

thanks for the feedback. need a surf for gorge and coast though. oregon coast waves can get big (double overhead) and sloppy. looking for something to accomodate both.
