the new Firewire boards ....

Postby FranP » Tue Feb 24, 2009 8:18 am

Hi,

I want to buy a new surfboard to surf (kiteless) and to kite strapless ...
currently, I surf a polyester board 6'4'' x 19 x 2''1/4 roundpin... the board is old and broken, so I want to buy a new one with the same dimensions from http://www.firewiresurfboards.com

there are three technologies available
http://www.firewiresurfboards.com/techn ... echid=tech

did anyone tried them ???

... I want to buy the Directdrive version of the model Flexwire 6'4'' x 19 x 2''1/4 with squash tail because it has Futures fins ...but I'm afraid the carbon frame will make it too stiff ? .... but your advice is very helpful !

are those kite dimensions right to kite in choppy waters ?

thanks a lot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont have much experience with the direct drive, but future fins are the S#^% so i would go with the Direct Drive.

A 6'4 is a fairly big board, which is great for paddling, but is ALOT of unnecessary swing weight.
In good waves it might not be an issue, but in anything under head high it might not be the best idea.

But at the end of the day, if you really like a 6'4 then go with it....
my only suggestion is JUST TRY a shorter and wider board.

hi Jon, mikey, thanks for your advice....

finally, I had chosen the Quadraflex 6'4'' x 19 5/8 x 2''1/2 + FCS fins http://www.firewiresurfboards.com/quive ... quadraflex

.... to surf and kite with the same board....The saint grial of a board, you know, I'm 200 lbs and 6'10' tall , so I cannot go to smaller boards :?

by the way, this is an interesting topic.... did you guys found the perfect board dimensions to let you travel with a single board to let you surf and kite ???????????????????????????????????????
