Kite position during carve

Hi All
I'm a recent convert to strapless riding and loving it. But I've hit a wall and could use some advice. When carving from heel to toe side I'm quite often overrunning my kite as I come to the end of the carve. I'm getting through the turn as quick as I can and I suspect it has to do with kite position through the turn. I've received much (well intentioned) conflicting advice about this. How do you guys stop the kite from flying to the edge of the window and getting slack lines during your carve turns? Any advice (even more conflicting advice) will be gratefully received. Thanks in advance for your hard-earned wisdom.

Hi!

I think the key is to ride powered. Fly the kite somewhere between the middle of the height thowards heigh.

1. carving x-wind: carve upwind, than pull the bar with your back hand (slightly turning the kite up and sheet-in the kite) and let the kite pull you in the downwind carve (similar to sending the kite to 12 before poping for jump), than carve back upwind, gradually sheeting-out (letting the kite force pull the bar out). Do not send the kite to much to 12 otherwise you have to steer it back, when you carve back upwind otherwise the kite Will yank you resulting in a board speed loos.

2. caving downwind: use your front hand to sheet-in the kite a bit, so it drifts back to the wind window a bit, to get a constant pull like on cable, and carve along the lines, just slightly sheeting in and out while you carve.

When you get good conditions commit you session to carving.

Thanks for the tips Zob. I love the alaia in your video! Did you build it yourself?

i had slack lines while turning and after some time playing around a downloop solved that problem,
when you turn do a downloop into the new riding position... i hope this was at least somewhat helpful cause im not sure i fully understood what youre trying to do lol

by the way, why is this forum so dead? where are the strapless rider? all out on the water 24/7?

take care

I think down loop is the way to go. I had the same problems, but down loop was the answer for me :-)

On these videos you can see the kite position.
