This is the place to talk about riding styles, tricks, conditions, what works, what doesn't on your skimboard. Wondering about what skimboard to get for kiting? Post it all here.

Hey all. Let me start by saying I am not a particularly coordinated board rider. It has taken me over 10 years of kiting to find a setup that challenges me all conditions and that I really enjoy. For me it is a full quiver of c-kites using a 5th line, along with a wakeboard and skimboard which I ride 80% of the time.

I have so much fun on the skim and I am learning a lot which completely translates to the wakestyle riding. What I have dialled now is my surface passes – I can pass either way riding any direction, so do the pass and ride away wrapped or blind, with grabs and reversing the trick at the end. Where I ultimately want to get to is popped tricks, unhooked airs tricks and grabs, and of course waveriding.

I guess what I am asking for is inspiration. What direction should I push my progression? What are the next steps that are within my reach?

Hey FSUkite,

Welcome to LTS from a GATOR! YEAH. Seriously, glad you are here and found us. There is lots of inspiration to be had in this forum, and many riders of all levels.

Surface passes are a great place to start with the skim, and you are right they generally do translate well over to boots. What you need to focus on now is get your shuvits down both directions, and ollies. Those are the next two skills that you will need in your arsenal to advance on to more technical tricks. There are good posts on how and what to do in the Skimboard FAQ sticky.

Also for wave riding inspiration you need to check out some of Wes's videos, one of my personal favorites is Skim Milk

You may also enjoy and hopefully gain some inspiration from the Skim Stoke and Skim Stoke II

Hope this helps! And again, welcome to LTS!
