I'm gonna be building or buying a skimmy soon but where I'll primarily use it the water is chest high or better. I'm going to Hatteras in May and will be able to learn in shallow water but once I get back home won't be able to really on knee deep water. Can anyone help a brother out?

Great site by the way.

Hey Clintopher,

Welcome to LTS! Thanks for joining us here, and your kind words. Pleasure to have you aboard!

Water starting on a skim is really not much different that on a regular TT or other board with straps. Simply keep one hand on the bar and use your other hand to position the board underneath your heels while having the kite at 12 O'clock. Then dive your kite as you normally would and you are off. It will take you all of 3 times doing it to get used to it. Now, if you are in waves it can get trickier because it is quite easy to lose your board so keep that in mind. You should not have any problems provide you are already proficient at water starting on a regular board with straps. However, you have any problems or questions just post it here, and we will be happy to help you out!
