Deckpad Suggestions

Hi All,

After owning a few skims for kiting I've finally got one I'm happy with (ZAP). Right now I've got it waxed up, but am hoping to get pads for it. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations. I could walk a few blocks to a surf shop and buy a traction pad, but that wouldn't take care of my front foot and I think another surfboard traction pad on the front might be too small. My goal is to not have to wax the board at all, as it spends its fair share of time in a roof box where the wax can get kinda gross.

Thanks in advance,

Adam

Hi Adam,

either you can go DIY with all sorts of EVA foam available for gymnastic floors, or you can purchase SUP deck pads. They come in big sizes and you can cut them down. Check NSI pads for a pointer, there are others out there. Bit pricey but good stuff.

Try a set of longboard pads placed backwards for the front of the board and a regular tailpad for the back, but get a tailpad that can be split so it covers the tail properly. Bit pricey but well worth it.

Try something like this:

or check out the pad category on Skimcity, plenty of front pads there http://www.skimcity.com/store/home.php?cat=3516

I bought a normal tail pad, added a dakine long arch bar to run up the middle and surrounded the arch bar with pieces from the dakine Fish tail paid. The fish tail pad has plenty of material in sections to do a lot. I just noticed dakine had a nice long board pad as well.

I would recomend the dakine long board tail pad. Ive used one on a surfboard and that and a tail pad gave plenty of area. Problem is ive not been able to get another one in the UK
