Liking what I see with the wakeskates so thought I might build me one of these puppies. So what makes for a good kiting wakeskate? Want to know length, width, planshape, railshape and rockerline .Best weight? What about fins - good or bad?? Lets be hearing from you.

So what makes a good kiteskate?????)))

For kiting a skate has to have less rocker than a cable/boat skate and be heavier than most kite boards. The Cab skate comes in right at 10lbs, which is perfect for doing tricks. Any heavier and you can't keep it with you on big jumps. Any lighter and it blows away when you try to throw any tricks. Optimal length for all around riding is 117-120. That will work in chop and flat water. If you have a perfect glassy spot to ride you could probably get away with a bit shorter, 115 or so. Of course if you have less rocker it's harder to get flat water pop. More rocker better pop and hard landings, but worse upwind.

I come from a (street)skate background, so I'm not giving up just yet...
The cab-skate's look'n pretty damn nice! ~ esp. since the scoop-sk8 is takin' a few birthday's to get out to market!!!

I'll be honest, whatever gets you on the water, use it. The Cab skate is bomb proof though. You buy one and you'll have it for a few seasons no problem. I literally abuse mine all day every day and it had nothing more than some superficial scratches on the bottom sheet. I mean ride over rocks, reef, sand, dropping it on rocks, the whole 9 yards. Thing is a tank.

Like Imelda says, the finished weight is super important. The outline and rocker need to be balanced as you need the upwind ability, without sacrificing pop.

You cant just build em outta foam and expect to get much life out of them.

Now that there are Kite specific designs out there, this segment of the market will do nothing but GROW!
