LF Skate 5'11" 2008 vs LF Skate 5'11" 2009

I know that one difference is that 2008 is a thruster and the 2009 can be quad or thruster. Aside from that, does anybody have some feedback as to which one would be better?

Hey No Straps,

Welcome to LTS! Thank you for joining us here. I have not seen the new LF skate yet. A while ago I asked the LF guys to come on here and give us some information on it, but they have not as yet. I will see if we can get someone from LF to give us the low down. Other than that perhaps one of the other people might have some feedback.

I wish I could help on this one, but I've only seen them in the wake magazine buying guides. They look nice, but I don't know anyone that has ridden them with a kite.

Thanks Lonny for the welcoming to the forum. If you get any info from anybody, please post it.

Todd, thanks, but I was referring to the kite surfboard not the surfskate.

Mikelet, I do prefer future boxes, but I wanted to know if the 09 works well as a quad, and if in the thruster config works as well or better than the 08 thruster. Any info is appreciated. A friend of mine is selling his used 08, and I am trying to decide if I should get it or buy the 09 if it works well as a quad.

Ah - so you are talking about the Rawson boards. I think Jon is the best person to help with this one. I'm sure he has at least tried them. The reality is that there are WAY more fin options available with FCS. They break easier, but if you are riding strapless, this will take away some of the torque that you could leverage on the fins anyway. Let's see what Jon has to say.

I am pretty sure that the main difference is the layers of epoxy.

tekko said they put 2 layers on the new ones(heavy) and the 08's have 1 layer.

I tried the Bonzer (6-fin) and found it super fast, but pretty heavy too.. and I wasn't in the ocean, just a big day on the river....

I'll hit up tekko and see if he can chime in here..

Thanks guys! I'll wait for tekko's info before closing any deals.

I'm trying to determine whether to buy the 09 if it functions well as a quad or the used 08 that a friend of mine is selling. flooring contractors auckland
