The Banshee in Cape Cod

For those who don't know what the Banshee is, it's a braided bungee cord that stretches pretty far - an anchor keeps it in place and this thing rips you accross the water. It's perfect to use with a small slider on a windless day. Here's a short video clip of the Banshee in action.

Hey just wanted to pass on some info on the banshee. It can be a lot of fun however you need to make sure that it is anchored correctly and check it often. Today we had a kid get hit with a flying anchor that sent him to the hospital for stitches with a large puncture wound to his arm. He will be fine but his skimboard was destroyed by the anchor as well. It is a good thing that the anchor hit the board before his arm. I also know of another incident that shattered a guys leg. I am not saying the product is bad. Everyone just needs to know the possible dangers so they use appropriate methods to keeping themselves in one piece.

Nice Video. Todd sent me a link of the Banshee a couple of months and I thought it was super cool, but immediately I thought what happens when that anchor breaks loose? Anything that develops that much recoil can obviously go the other way. Guess we know for sure now.... Scott, thanks for that heads up.

Hope the guys make quick and speedy recoveries.

yeah, I have seen a few clips of that...

To me, why even have the anchor...? why not find a log or use a truck to tie it to so it's fixed...? :?
I mean, I like the idea, and looks kinda cool...but for a short ride, why not just skim, get pulled by you car, or find a solid anchor like a log ofr tree....?

I have the french version and it is just a elastic rope with a wakeboard handle....we tie it to a tree or pier....but might make it kinda hard if you are on a beach with no car access.
Also, those anchors are designed to be used with constant pull or drag(from boat in wind, or current)....after the line gets slack in it, couldn't the waves, current, etc. loosen the anchor and make it prone to no holding..?

We don't really use mine anymore... sweet idea!!, but kinda a lot of work for your ride...t(guys helping you pull bungee, anchor, short-ride) not hating on it.. just my opinion...

some of the video from the river shots looks kinda cool..

Yeah man! That was awesome. It would have been even better if you had eaten it into the glass display case! :P Who shot that video so we can put that up? I remember it was on someone's phone.

Here is some really good information that I received today from Kevin @ Banshee Bungee:

Hey Lonny,

I was just checking out the posts about the anchor on your second video. I
agree with the check your anchor often and I wanted to add that we have
never had one of our recommended anchors come loose. It is very important
that you use a Danforth Style boat anchor rated for a 30 foot or greater
boat and weighing at least 18 pounds. The other thing you can do to improve
saftety if you are still concerned is to use one of our anchor lines (70
feet of 3/8 inch rope) in between the anchor and the bungee. This puts the
anchor 70 feet farther from the rider out into the ocean.

Regards,

Kevin Veon
