DAMNNNN!! that's sweet. I have been wondering if anyone was pulling this off. Hard to imagine, personally, for a guy who is still orking on ollies. Where was this shot?

Very nice riding. Smooth, the way it should be done. Modica has been doing this trick for years. He also does it with a front roll and a kiteloop, which we call the Modica and is pretty insane.

Yeah, thats my current end-of-session trick when I'm in what-the-hell mode (well actually just the kiteloop without the backroll). Havent landed one yet but its fun trying. Problem on the skim is you land downwind at speed and the board just whips out from under you. Best on an 8m. There was some british guy landing this in one of the mags on a skim about 2-3 years back I seem to remember.

What technique are you using? Grab or no grab? Flat or off a wave? Do you loop it directly at the jump or at the highest point? I want to try!

For the simple loop you need to pop the biggest ollie you can preferably off a little kicker with the kite high, grab with front hand and backloop the kite fast as possible then as it pulls you downwind try to get it back under your feet and land at speedpointing downwind. You need height and a lot of balance as you land. Once you got that go for the added backroll. Smaller kites loop faster.
Go for it.

well yann if your intetion is just to do the kite loop you dont have to grab the board, just do as slyde says and remenber the key of the trick is on the board posittion. put more weigth on your back foot so the board flys verticaly and rest the side of the front feet over the top pad like skaters do to kick flip the boards that way you have a better control over the fly of the board, as soon as you feel that you have reach the maximun high of the loop you will start felling that you get pul more forwards tham upwards, spot your landig and dont change the board posittion until you are close to the water. falow the kite down wind untill you loose speed and you are avable to get the riel again.

as you heard from other riders you will need smaller kites to do this to avoid the extra power and to get a good and fast reaction from your kite.

hope to see it on your pictures soon.

cheers

ps: this tric is easyer on surf boards because the bigger the board better it flys and closer it stays on you, finns give you more stability on the landing and the rocker of the board give you a better take of. but with lots of practice can be done on skimboards.

Dready I never thought of trying this without grabbing. That would be such a cool trick, but I bet its damn hard to keep the board on your feet. Cant wait to give it a go!

Cool, I'm so stoked to try one now. I'm going to Bulgaria today for a week and only bringing my 12m and the skim. Hopefully I get some thermal wind there but it's not the ideal kite to try a kiteloop with.
