Hi there from the South coast of England
Successfully lost the straps last year. Tried the old twin tip out at the weekend but didn't last long as it was so much better when I got back on my strapless board!
I started with an 6ft NSP fish but recently got a Cabrinha S Quad which is so much quicker and nicer to turn, but more difficult to gybe, however I'm getting it sussed now.

What I would like to know is how difficult would the transition from surfboard to skim board be compared to twin tip to surfboard, if one can make the comparison?
I've just invested in a Zap Med Pro following a recommendation on here but I'm a bit apprehensive about trying it out for the first time.
Any pointers appreciated.

Hi AdeyG, it's a piece of cake. Getting up and riding is no different because we ride any board using the edge. The only thing where it's getting funny in the beginning is the turns, where you rely on the fins and wipe out When you're riding in shore break, you can use a wave as a ramp for your turns, and in the flats it's getting down to fine tuning the balance and "feeling" your edge in the transition or turn. Also I found I ride the skim "lower", with the knees more bent.

No need for apprehension. It will take an hour or so to start to get the feel, and some good wipeouts, but you will be crushing it in no time! Have fun, and let us know any other questions you may have.
