where to start

im wanting to get into riding strapless and riding surf boards. I am wondering where to start. My idea at the moment is to get something that i can use in light winds as well as play in the waves (which are never that big around here). i have been offered a Slayer V2 54 (2014) and a airush choptop from 2011 for very good price. what do people thing of these boards???
